The Session is pleased to announce the addition of an in-house counselor on our premises. Her name is Beth Bates, and she is an experienced mental health professional. I am pleased to present her to you:

Beth Bates is a licensed professional therapist who opened Black Canyon Mental Health LLC this past spring to offer “evidence-based, faith-informed psychotherapy” to adults ages 18 and beyond—individuals, couples, and eventually groups.
Early in her counseling career, Beth was mentored by Jo DeVinny at Wellspring Counseling Center, offering counseling groups and couples/individual therapy in the office that is now the library.
Beth is grateful for the opportunity to practice again and to do so in the place where it all began, she considers to be an extra measure of God’s grace, creativity, and provision.

Beth, her husband Dan, and children Jack and Grace Coleman left the state in 2002, intending to return 2-3 years later. Twenty-two years later... the kids are out of college, and in 2022, Beth returned to do counseling at Axis (formerly Center for Mental Health) on Miami. Dan retired and joined her in 2023. Together, they enjoyed attending FPC briefly before joining another church in the community.
Both Beth and Dan have a tender spot in their hearts for FPC, as Dan was baptized in the Second Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis, Jack attended two years of Sonshine Patch, and Grace was baptized by Pastor George way back in 1999.
FPC feels like home.
