Lent Day 28

Scripture: Psalm 146

Praise the Lord.[a]

Praise the Lord, my soul.

I will praise the Lord all my life;

I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Do not put your trust in princes,

in human beings, who cannot save.

When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;

on that very day their plans come to nothing.

Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,

whose hope is in the Lord their God.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth,

the sea, and everything in them—

he remains faithful forever.

7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed

and gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets prisoners free,

8    the Lord gives sight to the blind,

the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,

the Lord loves the righteous.

The Lord watches over the foreigner

and sustains the fatherless and the widow,

but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

10 The Lord reigns forever,

your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Praise the Lord.

Today's Meditation: I will praise God for as long as I live!

Psalms 146 reminds us to sing praises to the Lord for as long as we live. We must not put our trust in other people, for they cannot save us. Only the God of Jacob brings us hope and blessings. For our God made the heaven and the earth and everything in them.

This Psalm emphasizes that God always does what He says He will do. He takes care of the

downtrodden, feeds the hungry, gives sight to the blind, frees prisoners, protects all of us, takes care of the needy, and “makes short work of the wicked.” (MSG) The NIV says, “…he frustrates the ways of the wicked.” What a great God we serve.

The way the last verse (10) is stated in the Message is my favorite, “God’s in charge— always. Zion’s God is God for good. Hallelujah!”

Let us realize during this season that the God in charge of everything sent His son so that we might be saved – proving that He is the God in charge and He loves his children.

Prayer:

Lord, help us to remember the sacrifice you made for us by sending your son. Let praise for you always be on our lips. Thank you for doing all you say you will do. Amen
