The Wise & Foolish Builder
Therefore, anyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on a rock. If you take the road up to Yankee Boy Basin, just outside Ouray, Colorado, you will pass by Lower Camp Bird Mine on your way. This area once housed a community of miners and their families. Since it was a long walk back to Ouray, this small town was established. Legend has it that one winter day, the children and their teacher left the small schoolhouse and headed to the cafeteria for lunch. Unfortunately, an avalanche swept through, uprooting the school from its foundation. It is a miraculous story of timing, as the school was moved and shaken, and the townspeople were likely too. Since then, the avalanche path has been aptly named “Schoolhouse Slide.”
This parable explicitly identifies Christ as the only acceptable foundation. Are you building your life securely on Christ or something else? Remember, even a slight slide can lead to trouble. In this time of chaos, confusion, conflict, disasters, and lies, are you on the right path? Are you building your life on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ?
Christ is my firm foundation, the rock on which I stand.
When everything around me is shaken,
I’ve never been more glad that I put my faith in Jesus.
He’s never let me down; he’s faithful through generations.
So why would he fail now? He won’t.
