Look Up!

I lift up my eyes to the mountains; where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121 1-2
Where are you looking? Is spending time staring down at your phone, laptop, work, and all the things that require your attention, making it difficult to look up? The Psalmist’s words are clear: we are to lift our eyes both physically and spiritually. We are so blessed to reside near the mountains and have no excuse to take time each day to look up at the breathtaking San Juans and Grand Mesa. What does it truly mean to lift our eyes up?
Perhaps it means:
- Setting your phone down and gazing upon God’s magnificent creation.
- Witnessing the sunrise over the mountains or observing lightning dance across the peaks.
- Fixing your eyes on something awe-inspiring, such as art, nature, or the people you love.
- Turning your face toward God’s presence through His Word or engaging in prayer.
- Observing the details of nature and expressing gratitude to Him.
Perhaps, if you take a moment right now to lift your eyes, you might find yourself worshipping Jesus, our Creator. You can schedule it, plan for it, or simply stop where you are and do it now. Look up! God is at work, faithful, and worthy of your attention!
